Not that this should surprise any of you, but Nintendo has recognized that it’s running on a new, good Mario game for the 3DS. So claims the unlimited Shigeru Miyamoto, who was recently described in the New Yorker. It is most good news, yes.
Miyamoto claimed, as the ongoing Iwata Asks series part, that:
In the interests of adopting new technology for the Super Mario Bros. tradition, I am now making a new Super Mario Bros. game for the Nintendo 3DS system… I want to show everyone as soon as possible what the new Super Mario Bros. will be like on the Nintendo 3DS.
Can not be more clear than that.
1UP helpfully reminds us that the last good (read: original) Mario game to seem on a handheld console was 2006’s New Super Mario Bros.
It was good.
